This semester HS Art students have been absolutely busting their tails on a hyper-realism charcoal assignment. Students explored the work of contemporary Australian artist CJ Hendry, who specializes in hyper realistic renderings of everyday objects. Check her out on social media! The classes focused on her balloon series, and arranged mylar balloons as references for their own charcoal hyper-realism creations. We are impressed with their results!
Art instructor Mrs. Casi Short said, "This was their first charcoal drawing and it was not an easy task. It stopped being fun for the kids around day 3 of work, and we did this for the entire month of January. I am blown away by their results, but what I'm most proud of are their studio habits and work ethic. They all rose to this challenge, put their heads down, and persevered when it got hard. My art students are not quitters and it shows!"
