Dear Families of USD 358 Oxford Students,
As the summer season is quickly coming to an end, many are asking questions about the return to school. The goal is to have all our Oxford Wildcats back in a school setting with teachers, as safely as possible starting August 19th. To get to that goal, careful planning and collaboration with state and local officials is underway.
The anticipated timeline is as follows: on July 16th the Kansas State Department of Education will officially release the Kansas reopening guidance, “Navigating Change.” On that same day, a team of USD 358 staff members will be trained on the document and begin developing a plan that works for Oxford. A meeting with all Sumner County superintendents and the Sumner County Health officials is scheduled for July 22nd to review and discuss plans being drafted and make adjustments based on the most recent information. USD 358’s SITE Council will evaluate the drafted plan on the 23rd of July. The USD 358 Reopen plan will then be sent to the Board of Education for final approval. The official details for returning to Oxford schools will be released to all families on or before July 28, 2020.
Our top priorities are the students, staff, families, and the community. It is for that reason, we are taking the time to plan and consider the most current situations as we near August. 19th. There is one thing I am certain of in uncertain times, and that is the pride and strength of the Oxford community and the ability to make the best out of challenging situations. We will undoubtedly be better than ever as a result. Take care and I appreciate your patience and understanding as we work for the best interest of the Wildcat Family.
Respectfully,
Dr. Cathi Wilson
Superintendent
